Habitat for Humanity of Wood County Ohio builds decent and affordable houses for individuals and families in need. We work with professional builders, contractors, volunteers and future homeowners (beneficiaries) to build Energy Star rated homes throughout Wood County:

  • From Northwood and Rossford down to North Baltimore
  • From Grand Rapids clear across to Bradner

We aim to meet the needs of individuals and families throughout Wood County and welcome your support to help us build quality homes.

Future Homeowner & Sweat Equity

Future homeowners (one or more persons living in the same household) must contribute “sweat equity” (volunteer hours spent helping with the construction of their home).

  • 250 hours per applicant

Future homeowners must attend a monthly homeowner workshop program and complete Financial Peace University. Training hours count towards the sweat equity requirement.

Home Specifications

Habitat homes generally follow an open plan with a combined dining/kitchen space. When possible, Habitat works with the future homeowners to offer choices for carpet, vinyl, countertop, siding, and shingle colors.

Basic Furnishings

Habitat homes provide the following:

  • Whirlpool refrigerator and stove
  • Central AC, Energy Star furnace and water heater
  • Washer and dryer are not included
  • 1.5 bathrooms
  • 8x10 shed
  • 1180 square feet: 3 bedrooms
  • 1280 square feet: 4 bedrooms
  • Bedroom size is approximately 100 square feet
  • Crawl space (no basements)
  • Driveway (no garage)
  • Basic landscaping
